MODERN CONFIDENCE
The Soul of the Piece
The Ado jacket by Nanushka is a sharp and precise reinterpretation of the traditional biker jacket. Its cropped cut stops exactly above the hips — not by chance, but by design decision — creating a junction of proportions that redefines the silhouette with immediate modernity. Crafted from the brand's signature regenerated leather, a material with a remarkably supple matte finish from the first wear, it exudes a rock allure without ever sacrificing the minimalist elegance that is Nanushka's DNA. The black here is not a shiny black that seeks attention — it's a deep, matte black that commands it effortlessly.
Its Place in Your Wardrobe
In your wardrobe library, this Ado jacket holds the absolutely fundamental place of the black jacket — that piece that everyone theoretically owns, but very few possess in the right version. The cropped cut is the most versatile version of the biker jacket: it pairs equally well with high-waisted jeans as with an evening dress, with a suit as with a coarse Sunday sweater. Regenerated leather, unlike animal leather, requires no regular conditioning or special precautions — it ages stably and predictably. It's the jacket you wear in September, November, March, and May — and which, each time, does exactly what it promises: to give confidence to any outfit in ten seconds.
Style Notes
-
The Elongated Line: Take advantage of the cropped cut to consistently pair this jacket with very high-waisted bottoms. The precise junction of the jacket at the natural waist creates a line that spectacularly elongates the leg — the most flattering proportion possible.
-
The Contrast of Length: Wear it over a long men's shirt or a thin sweater that hangs lower. This play of unequal lengths — the short jacket over a longer fabric — breaks the rigidity of the biker jacket and introduces a sophisticated casualness that is one of the signatures of contemporary style.
-
The Collar Game: The Ado model's collar can be worn up or down depending on your intention. Fully zipped with the collar up, it creates a closed and protective urban silhouette. Open with the collar down, it exposes the neck for a choker or a statement earring — same jacket, two distinct styles.
Craftsmanship: The Revisited Biker Jacket and Nanushka's Regenerated Leather
The biker jacket — with its asymmetrical zipper and subtle epaulets — was created in 1928 by Irving Schott in New York, intended for motorcyclists who needed a durable jacket for falls. It has since become one of the most symbolically charged garments in fashion history: Marlon Brando, British rockers, punk, new wave — every subculture has embraced it. Nanushka, founded in Budapest in 2006 by Sandra Sandor, offers a reinterpretation here that respects the rebellious spirit of the piece while shedding the animal leather from which it originated. The material used — high-quality polyurethane on a polyester base — is treated in their workshops to achieve a grain and suppleness that lower-quality PUs cannot replicate. The key lies in the coating technique: several successive layers of PU are applied to the textile backing, sanded and finished to achieve this matte, slightly grainy feel that deceives even the most expert hands. For fifteen years, Nanushka has proven that a characterful jacket doesn't need animal leather to have substance.
