The Graphic Organic
The Soul of the Piece
A summery and textured interpretation of A.P.C.'s iconic Demi-Lune silhouette, this bag captures the essence of relaxed Parisian chic. The combination of natural woven raffia and refined black leather creates a striking graphic contrast—an aesthetic that is both organic and structured. A timeless classic that infuses discreet elegance into every outfit, from morning to evening.
Its Place in Your Wardrobe
In a sartorial library, a 310g bag is a precious anomaly. The A.P.C. Demi-Lune weighs nothing, takes up no space, and adapts to everything: worn on the shoulder for a classic everyday look, or across the body for a freer style. Its magnetic closure and thoughtful interior organization (zipped pocket + patch pocket) make it the perfect companion for long days. The beige-black shade belongs to no exclusive season—it transitions through spring, summer, and the first days of autumn without ever looking out of place.
Style Notes
-
Urban Escape: Wear it with a flowing long dress or a white linen ensemble—the contrast between woven raffia and light fabrics creates a naturally sophisticated balance.
-
Urban Modernity: Pair its natural texture with a structured blazer and raw denim to break traditional summer bag codes—the graphic nature of the black leather grounds the look in something more assertive.
-
Double Wear: The adjustable shoulder strap offers true modularity—on the shoulder for a classic look, cross-body for a dynamic one. Same bag, two silhouettes.
Craftsmanship: Madagascan Raffia and the Tradition of Luxury Weaving
Jean Touitou founded A.P.C. (Atelier de Production et de Création) in Paris in 1987 with an anti-fashion conviction: to create pieces that last, stripped of the superfluous. The Demi-Lune silhouette is a direct expression of this philosophy—a pure, identifiable form, designed to remain relevant beyond trends. The choice of raffia for this version is not a seasonal compromise—it's a deliberate return to a noble natural material. Raffia is extracted from the leaves of the Raphia farinifera palm, endemic to Madagascar, the world's leading producer. The leaves are harvested manually, their central veins removed, then the leaves are separated into fine fibers and air-dried. This entirely artisanal process preserves the natural flexibility of the fibers, unlike rattan (from Asia), which is a climbing palm stem and much stiffer once treated. To be used in luxury leather goods, raw raffia undergoes a smoothing and controlled humidification treatment that softens it enough to be woven into stable and resistant forms, without losing its characteristic natural texture. On A.P.C.'s Demi-Lune, the black leather details are not merely decorative—they reinforce tension areas (edges, handles, closure) where raffia would be likely to fray over time, combining the poetry of nature with the precision of structured leather goods.
